You can usually check three things:
- Documentation: Check whether the material has valid food-contact test documentation, such as FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 or the stricter European LFGB standard.
- No odor: Food grade silicone should be odorless.
- Stretch or fold test: Food grade silicone usually does not turn white when stretched or folded, unlike many lower-grade silicones.
