Types of Silicone Molds

Silicone Mold Making Materials

Industrial silicone molds are created using tin-cured silicone as the base material. They exhibit hardness ranging from 5 to 40 Shore A, with the color being customizable based on requirements. The manufacturing process involves both pouring and brushing techniques, and the mold styles include single-piece and two-piece options.

These molds are commonly used in the casting of crafts, gypsum, GRC, artificial culture stones, concrete, rapid prototyping, and other applications.

Food-grade silicone molds are created using platinum-cured silicone as the base material. They exhibit hardness ranging from 0 to 50 Shore A, with the color being customizable based on requirements. Common mold styles include single-cavity and multi-cavity integrated designs.

The standout feature of these molds is their non-toxic and odorless nature. They are certified as food-grade and do not contain BPA. These molds are suitable for use in microwaves, refrigerators, and ovens, and can endure temperatures ranging from -50°C to 250°C (-58°F to 482°F). They are typically used for casting soap, candles, gummy candies, cookies, chocolates, and hard candies.

FAQs

The molds we create are handcrafted using RTV-2 silicone material, which is typically the best approach for producing small batches of products (one or several dozen). However, if you require molds in larger quantities, ranging from hundreds to thousands, we can also offer injection or compression molding processes to create the molds.

The cost of custom silicone mold fabrication depends on the shape, size, and complexity of the object (3D or 2D), and it consists of three key elements. We are committed to offering high-quality silicone mold products to all our clients at the most affordable prices. We assess the entire scope of each project to identify the best solutions and pricing, whether through research and development, design, engineering, or manufacturing.

1. Regarding Payment

Custom molds require payment of fees before starting the order. As the molds are customized and cannot be resold to other customers, once the order is confirmed, changes or cancellations will not be possible.

2. Disclaimer for Molds

Please note that our custom silicone molds are handmade, and as such, minor imperfections may be present such as surface bubbles, untrimmed excess silicone, or unevenness. These imperfections do not affect the final outcome of your product. Additionally, we do not provide exchanges or refunds due to demolding difficulties, as demolding is a skill that requires patience and practice, and is not considered a defect. We also do not provide exchanges or refunds for damages caused by use or lack of maintenance.

3. Package Lost/Damaged

If your package is lost or damaged during transit, please notify us immediately so that we can initiate a claim with the shipping carrier. To process a claim for damaged items, we will need photos of the product and its packaging, as well as the shipping label. If a package is marked as delivered by the carrier but cannot be located, we cannot guarantee a refund, as we do not provide insurance for packages that are not confirmed lost in transit. We are not responsible for any delays, address errors, or theft that occur after the package has been shipped. If your package is delayed, we will do our best to assist you. However, as delays are beyond our control, we cannot provide a refund or replacement unless the carrier officially declares the package as lost.

To get a custom mold made, you will need to provide a 3D file of your design or a link to a 3D image. We can process common 3D file types like STL and VRML. If you don't have a 3D file, you can provide a physical object as a reference.

Our silicone molds are suitable for casting most materials. Common casting materials include polyurethane resin, epoxy resin, plaster, wax, soap, concrete, food, and so on.

The lifespan of silicone molds greatly depends on the casting materials used. Typically, if you are using hard casting materials such as epoxy resin or polyurethane resin, the silicone molds can be used for 30-50 casts. If you're using softer materials like wax or soap, you may achieve a higher number of castings.

Typically, we require 1-4 weeks to complete an order, depending on the quantity of customization and the complexity of the production process. For international orders, standard shipping may take around 10-15 business days.

Once you are ready to place an order, we will provide you with a shipping quote. The shipping cost is calculated based on the weight of the package and the destination. We offer worldwide shipping. For bulk orders, we ship by sea, while for small orders, we use DHL, FedEx, TNT, or UPS. However, please be aware that international shipping may incur additional customs fees and duties depending on your country/region's regulations. These charges are the responsibility of the buyer and may be collected by the customs authorities of the destination country/region upon delivery.

Silicone rubber materials are a very safe type of polymer, with minimal toxicity in most environments. Additionally, since silicone is not classified as hazardous waste, it can be disposed of according to local regulations regarding waste management.
