Ecoflex™ 00-30 and RTV-4030 are both specified at 30 Shore OO, making them directly relevant to applications where very low hardness, flexibility and a soft cured feel are required. At this softness level, the material can conform to complex surfaces and deform readily during use, but the same characteristic can reduce structural support compared with harder silicone grades.
The clearest published performance differences are elongation and tear strength. Smooth-On reports 900% elongation and 38 pli tear strength for Ecoflex™ 00-30, while MinghuiLink reports 560±50% elongation and 6±0.5 N/mm tear strength for RTV-4030. Ecoflex™ 00-30 therefore shows substantially higher published elongation and slightly higher reported tear strength. These differences may be relevant when the cured silicone must undergo repeated stretching or resist tearing in thin or flexible sections.
The processing windows are relatively close. Ecoflex™ 00-30 has a published 45-minute pot life and 4-hour cure time, while RTV-4030 is listed at 30–40 minutes and 4–5 hours. These overlapping ranges mean processing time alone is unlikely to determine the choice. Instead, the practical difference may become more relevant when the project involves larger pours, detailed molding, pigmentation or other work that benefits from additional handling time.
Both materials have relatively low published mixed viscosity. Smooth-On reports 3,000 cps for Ecoflex™ 00-30, while MinghuiLink reports 2,500±200 mPa·s for RTV-4030. The lower reported viscosity of RTV-4030 may be useful where easier flow during mold filling is important, although actual flow and air-release behavior should be evaluated with the intended mold geometry and process. Smooth-On recommends vacuum degassing Ecoflex™ 00-30 when minimizing entrapped air is important.
For soft molds, prosthetic-related work, flexible skins and other applications where the finished silicone must deform easily, 30 Shore OO can be a useful balance within the super-soft range. Ecoflex™ 00-30 has specific published positioning for prosthetic appliances, orthotic cushioning and animatronics, while RTV-4030 is positioned within MinghuiLink’s life-casting silicone range. Final selection should consider required stretch, thin-section durability, skin-contact requirements, mold geometry and the intended production process.
