Is the same kind of silicone used to make poured molds as is used to make brush on molds? I plan to make a two or three piece brush on mold of a life sized human head sculpture but am not sure if the two part 1:1 mix silicone rubber I have is suitable? Thanks in advance for your help.
Yes, the same kind of silicone can be used for both poured and brush-on molds. For a brush-on application on a sculpture like you described, we highly recommend adding a thixotropic additive (a thickener) to your mix. This will make the silicone less runny and allow you to build up layers on vertical surfaces without it dripping. Please be aware that your 1:1 silicone is a platinum cure type, which will fail to cure if it comes into contact with sulfur-based modeling clay. If you're not sure, using a tin cure silicone would be a safer option.
